A sense of achievment

Today, I managed to cook a breakfast for the boys, make playdough and make a cake. I realise I take my normal ability for granted, and today I'm thrilled with myself. And not too much crankiness either!

Here's the finished product.

Mission complete!

The best part of making a cake

Hard work

Boys building a fort.

They are planning a sleepover in the garden. Or they're digging for a swimming pool. Whichever is the quickest!

I'm feel I'm the mother from Hell!

This last week has to have been the most challanging of my life, and has seen me at my most vulnerable and dependant and as a result out of sorts.
Everything is a challange and having both hand out of action means most things are impossible.
But worse than that, everything makes me so cross. Too many kids standing together, kids eating at the wrong table, the front door left open to let the dog escape, the tv too loud, the batteries falling out of the remote when I can finally get to watch something. But that fails as the kids gather and fight over who sits next to me or on me. And Saul looks to feed and that is so painful. Dog hairs on the sofa, dog and cat fighting, the dog in the rabbit hutch. The dog......
Normally all these things together wouldn't phase me but these days the slightest thing drives me crazy!
Over the weekend, Our computer had crashed, and I couldn't hold a book to read. There is a brilliant game on my phone and despite my excitement at starting to play, it kills my right hand, so I had to abandon all and visit a friend and share two bottles of delicious Australian white wine and forget....
I think I'm suffering from cabin fever too, really want to go somewhere, or have someone visit. Anything to help the days pass and to feel like I'm recovering to some degree. That moan really helped. Thanks!

My little Reuben

My reality is a little foggy

I had my second operation for Carpal Tunnul Syndrome Decompression yesterday. Luckily its my left hand this time so at least I can write without too much difficulty. Having said that, my right hand still aches from the first op in mid Jan, and I anticipate it will worsen with the constant use over the next 6 weeks or so.
So as a result of this I am feeling very vague and quite dazed and it seemed to take me so long to come around from the anaesthetic........ I'm hoping it will pass through my system and make Saul sleepy at night, but despite how much the little imp feeds, it hasn't had any effect at night!
I have to abandon my own work for a while, I hate not being able to sew..... I had great plans to read, but found it so hard to hold my book, so I slept instead. A true luxury with 4 boys downstairs.

Out of action for a while!

More from my kitchen

Itching to work

Saul's first post and photo

Toddler days

I seem to spend a lot of my time and energy avoiding conflict with my youngest child, Saul. He is two, and the most dominant and headstrong of my boys, at least at this age. I think..... How easily we forget. I think he is coming down with something, something brewing under the surface and manifesting itself in his behaviour. Boy is it hard work, and quite often he wins the battle!
There are times when it all gets too much and I question my sanity. On Monday night I thought I was going to crack up, and on Tuesday I organised my fantastic baby sitter and I had a few hours to pamper myself, and I feel all the better for it. There are times when 4 little people's demands, usually at the same time, get too much. The interesting thing is that Michael and I talked at length over the weekend about the idea of baby number 5. On days like this, I'm happy to conclude there won't be number 5 in our house...... The washing, the walking, the feeding, the joy of it all, but not in our house.
